The Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJPYM) on Monday carried out a symbolic 'funeral' procession of Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in Nagpur, protesting over his remarks against the demand of a separate Vidarbha State.

“The CM said that a separate Vidarbha State will be a breeding ground for Naxals. We protest this irresponsible statement made by him. The BJP has always supported the demand for a separate Vidarbha State and we will continue to do so,” said Banti Kukde, chief of BJPYM Nagpur.

“The next time the Chief Minister comes to Nagpur, we will protest in front of his official bungalow here. If any other minister from this State cabinet makes such an irresponsible statement, we will not spare him,” said Chandan Goswami, BJP publicity chief in Vidarbha area.

Calling the demand for a separate Vidarbha State “not a practical but an emotional one” Mr. Chavan had said that the Naxalism could strengthen its roots in Vidarbha if the region was separated from Maharashtra.
