BJP workers show black flags to Odisha Ministers

July 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - BERHAMPUR:

BJP activists showed black flags to Odisha Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi and Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Das Burma at Berhampur University campus in Ganjam district on Tuesday.

According to Ganjam district BJP president Kanhu Pati, they had protested against apathy of these two Ministers towards the innocent tribals injured in police firing in Kandhamal district on July 8 night. “It is an irony that these two Ministers did not visit the injured tribals, who are undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital but dashed to take part in inauguration ceremonies on the university campus, which speaks of BJD government’s apathy towards poor tribals,” Mr Pati said.

The BJP workers were also protesting against the attack on convoy of Union Minister Santosh Gangwar in Bargarh, he added.

Six BJP activists were detained by the police after black flags were shown to the two Ministers. They were later released.

In a similar incident, the BJP workers had shown black flags at State Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, when he visited Balasore district headquarter hospital on Monday.
