A senior BJP leader said on Wednesday that the north-east India would contribute to BJPs tally to form its own government at the centre.
S.S. Ahluwalia, senior national vice president of the BJP, ushered hope that his party led would get convincing majority in forthcoming elections to the Lok Sabha.
"We are sure to win 272 seats. People in north-east India would also ensure victory of our candidates", he told newsmen in Agartala. Mr Ahluwalia accompanied by senior leader Vijay Jolly paid a day's visit in Agartala to oversee preparations for Narendra Modi's February 22 rally at Swami Vivekananda stadium.
Replying to a question, he said public rallies of Narendra Modi and other senior leaders would continue to occur across the country till election time. He assured after assuming office, NDA government would give special emphasis for overall development of north-east.
"It was NDA under the leadership of Atal Behari Vajpayee created separate ministries for north-east and tribal affairs", he asserted. He said NDA has the vision and commitment to dispel grievances of people of the region.
Mr Ahluwalia is the chief of election campaign committee of north-east India. In his current tour, he will also travel to some other states in the north-east.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress has also stepped up activities ahead of public rally of the party chief Mamata Banerjee on February 25 at the same venue. The rally was earlier slated for February 26.
