Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday ruled out the BJD having any tie-up with the Congress or the BJP for the next general elections.

“There is no question of forging alliance with BJP or Congress for the next elections,” Mr. Patnaik told newsmen reacting to reported statement by a senior Congress leader at Jaipur conclave that their party is open for any tie-up with parties like the JD(U) and the BJD.

Mr. Patnaik, who is also the BJD president, said he had made it clear several times that the regional party would never have electoral alliance with the BJP or the Congress.

The ruling BJD, which shared power in Odisha from 2000 to 2009, had snapped ties with the saffron party on the eve of the 2009 elections
