Shocking photographs of two youths transporting a body to their village on a bike after a post-mortem have come to the fore from Jharigaon block of Nabarangpur district in Odisha.
It is being alleged that this was due to either lack of vehicles to transport the body or poverty. The two youths had tied up the female body wrapped in polythene to the back of their bike. The dead woman from Bharuamunda had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself. The post-mortem was conducted at the Jharigaon Community Health Centre.
However, why the youths were carrying the body in such a way is not known.
Speaking to The Hindu , Nabrangpur District Collector Rashmita Panda said vehicles to carry bodies were available in the area. According to her, two such vehicles were available at Umerkote around 20 kilometres away from Jharigaon.
In the past a similar incident has happened in Nabarangpur district. A few months back photographs of a body of a peasant who had committed suicide at Chalanguda being transported on a bike for post-mortem had also come up in the media.
