Bihar raises insurance cover for policemen in Naxal districts

Bihar government will raise the insurance cover of policemen and homeguard personnel posted in 15 Maoist-affected districts from Rs. 12 lakh now to Rs. 13.75 lakh.

“All police officers, policemen and home guard jawans posted in the Naxalite-affected districts will now be entitled for an insurance cover of Rs. 13.75 lakh,” Director General of Police Neelmani told reporters here on Tuesday.

However, the ex-gratia would remain the same at Rs. 10 lakh.

The districts identified are Patna, Nalanda, Gaya, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhagalpur, Sitamarhi, East and West Champaran, Munger and Jamui, he added.
