Bihar on Saturday joined the nation in remembering late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 25th death anniversary with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other leaders paying homage to her.

Mr. Kumar went to garland the statue of the late leader inside Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) and paid homage to her memory.

Former chief minister Jagannath Mishra was among those present on the occasion.

Mr. Kumar also garlanded the statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, considered architect of Modern India on his 134th birth anniversary.

Later speaking to reporters, Mr. Kumar described Indira Gandhi as a great visionary and a person of strong will and said the nation would always remember her outstanding contributions.

On this occasion the leaders should rise above politics and pledge to uphold the country’s unity and integrity, he said.

AICC leader and in-charge of party’s Bihar affairs, Jagdish Tytler and state party chief Anil Sharma, besides several party leaders, paid floral tributes to the late leader at the state party office.
