Janata Dal-United on Tuesday suspended two of its party legislators and issued them show cause notice for their controversial statements.
The suspended party leaders are Gopalpur MLA Neeraj Kumar Mandal alias Gopal Mandal and party MLC Rana Gangeshwar.
Earlier on Sunday, Mr. Mandal at a public meeting in Bhagalpur had declared that he was doing politics of murder and would continue to do so in the future too.
Taking a dig at Bihar government's resolve to ban sale of liquor in the State from April 1, Mr. Mandal had further said that it was a foolish idea as even the God have been enjoying "wine and women" in heaven.
Nobody can stop anyone from taking liquor and if they would do I'll take cannabis and marijuana at my home, said the MLA.
Earlier, Mr. Mandal had hit headlines when he had openly declared that he would slit tongues of those who would threaten his supporters.
Mr. Mandal, said to be close to JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav, had also threatened a local police official saying he would thrown him into river Ganga.
" After the party core committee decided to suspend him, we also informed our party President and suspended him from the party ", state JD(U) president Basistha Narayan Singh told journalists in Patna.
Mr. Gangeshwar, in a public function, had said India's national anthem needed to be changed as it appeared like a " slave song" sung in honour of those who ruled us.
Mr. Gangeshwar was earlier in BJP but he had joined the ruling party last year.
"Both the leaders have now been suspended from the party for their controversial and uncalled for statements and the party has also issued show cause notice to them", said Mr. Singh.
