Bhanwari Devi case trial set to start on April 2

The trial in the Bhanwari Devi abduction and murder case is expected to begin from April 2 in the SC/ST court.

The special court (SC/ST cases) on Tuesday, after the committal of the matter from the CBI court during the last hearing, extended the judicial custody of all the 10 accused till April 2 to coincide with those of Sohan Lal Bishnoi, Shahabuddin and Balia.

With the court taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed against all 13 accused by the CBI, the long awaited trial of the case is all set to commence.

Mahipal Maderna, Paras Ram Bishnoi, Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, Amarcahand, Umesh Ram Bishnoi, Sahi Ram Bishnoi and Kailash Jakhar were produced in the Special court (SC/ST cases) on Tuesday.

However, Bishna Ram Bishnoi, Ashok Bishnoi and Om Prakash Bishnoi could not appear in the court as all of them were on production warrant in some other matter.

The agency has not yet been able to find Indra Bishnoi. — PTI
