Beef case: Kashmiri students held in Rajasthan released

Samples to be sent to Forensic Science Laboratory

Four Kashmiri students of Mewar University in Rajasthan, who were >arrested on suspicion that they had brought beef into the campus in violation of rules, were released on Wednesday night.

“Non-vegetarian food is not allowed on the campus. But the students broke the rules.... Taking advantage of the situation, some students who had rivalry with these Kashmiri students immediately went to town with the news,” Mewar University’s PRO Harish Gurnani told The Hindu .

Tests show it was not beef Meat samples were collected on Monday and initial test results indicated it was not beef.

“However, we will be sending the samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory,” the Station House Officer of the Gangrar police station, Labhu Ram, told The Hindu .
