Barsinghsar plant to go on steam in March

The Barsinghsar power station in Bikaner district of Rajasthan being set up by Neyveli Lignite Corporation is likely to start power production to its full capacity by March next year. The electricity to be generated by the plant will be used entirely in the State.

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Chairman and Managing Director A. R. Ansari, who met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here on Monday, said one of the two units of 125 MW each installed at the project had been synchronised and it would achieve its full generation capacity by next month. The second unit will be synchronised by February next year and both units will start producing power to their full capacity by March.

According to an official release here, Neyveli Lignite Corporation proposes to establish two units of 250 MW each in the State during the current Five Year Plan with an estimated expenditure of Rs.500 crore on each of them. The total power production by the Corporation will touch 750 MW, involving an expenditure of Rs.1,680 crore.
