Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Monday visited the Kedarnath temple to assess flood damage and what needs to be done to restore the shrine. He lent a helping hand in removing debris. “Kedarnath is the centre of faith for millions of people worldwide” and the government would endeavour to restore it to its traditional splendour as early as possible, he said. Experts of the Archaeological Survey of India and the Geological Survey of India would supervise the work, which would be done with heavy machinery to be airlifted soon. The challenge, he said, was to clear the debris by September, before heavy snowfall.
