B. Tech student tries to drug, rape girl

A third-year B. Tech student allegedly abducted a woman of his college in broad daylight and then tried to kill her when she resisted his attempts to rape her, the police said on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday when the accused, Harsh, a resident of Ghaziabad, abducted the girl, a second year student in a polytechnic college in Vrindavan area, from a bus near Holi Gate area here. The accused then forced her into a car and took her to a secluded area at Mathura-Vrindavan road where he tried to drug and rape her.

When the woman resisted, Harsh hit her on the head with a brick. She was later rescued by a local leader who with the help of police admitted her to the hospital.

The girl has been admitted to a hospital in Agra by her family, the police said adding a hunt is underway to nab the accused. - PTI
