Trinamool govt. trying to hold rural polls as per its wish, says former Chief Minister
The former Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, on Sunday charged the Trinamool Congress government with trying to hold the rural polls as per its wish.
“What is going to happen finally? Will it be possible to hold the rural polls at all? This question is being asked everywhere,” Mr Bhattacharjee said addressing a rally organised by the CPI(M) at Bongaon in North 24 Parganas district.
He asked how fair the polls could be in the face of unabated attacks on the nominees of the Left parties by Trinamool activists.
Nearly 5,000 candidates of the Left Front had not been able to file their papers while those who had already filed nomination were being threatened to withdraw from the fray, said Mr. Bhattacharjee, a member of the CPI(M) Polit Bureau.
