Trinamool Congress supporters attack Election Commission officials in Manikchak area under South Malda constituency of West Bengal on Thursday.

Three persons, including the son-in-law of a Minister and Trinamool Congress leader, have been arrested for allegedly assaulting Election Commission (EC) officials in Manikchak area in Malda district.

Soumyadeep Sarkar, son-in-law of West Bengal Women and Child Welfare Minister Sabitri Mitra, and two other Trinamool activists were arrested on Friday, while three more, Zamal Khan, Kalu Sheikh and Bipin Mondal were arrested on Thursday. They were produced in the Malda district court and sent to police custody.

The two Trinamool activists picked up by the police on Friday were Mukuleswar Rahman and Motiur Rahman. The assault took place when the EC officials objected to a motorbike rally taken out by the ruling party.
