The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) was on Tuesday granted 10 days’ custody of key Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal for the investigation of his role in the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case.
In 2006, the ATS had filed a charge sheet showing Jundal as a wanted key accused. In an operation on May 9 that year, it intercepted a vehicle near Aurangabad and arrested three persons, while Jundal managed to escape.
He eventually went to Pakistan on a Pakistani passport.
The ATS wants to interrogate him in the Pune German Bakery blast case too.
The blast, which took place on February 13, 2010, killed 17 persons and injured many.
