At least 20 workers injured in Adani power plant accident

More than 20 workers sustained burn injuries in an accident in Adani group's coal-fired 4600 MW power plant in Mundra, Gujarat on Wednesday. Following the accident, one of the nine units of the plant was shut down and the company has formed a committee of experts to examine the causes that led to the accident.

“Today, during start-up, after two day’s shut down, in one of the nine units of Mundra Power plant, hot water splashed from the vent of a flash tank. During the start up some steam is normally allowed to vent," stated in a media release issued by the company.

Eight workers were provided first aid at the plant while 13 workers, who "suffered various level of injuries have been shifted to Ahmedabad and are being provided high quality medical care."
