West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited north Bengal on Friday to review the assistance being provided by the district administration to the people who have fled Assam in the wake of the violence unleashed by the National Democratic Front of Boroland (Songbijit) and taken shelter in relief camps in Alipurduar district.

“About 1,000 people have come from Assam. Whatever we can do within our limited means, we will do for them,” Ms. Banerjee told journalists outside the Bagdogra airport in Siliguri. She will remain in Jalpaiguri on Friday and visit the camps on Saturday.
