The flood situation in Assam remained unchanged on Sunday as nearly two lakh people continued to be affected by the rising water of Brahmaputra River and its tributaries.
Official sources here said the situation was grim in the worst affected Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts in upper Assam where road communication remained disrupted at various places.
Nearly 100 villages in the twin districts were submerged by the Brahmaputra and its tributaries.
The situation was also serious in the other districts of upper Assam, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh.
The road link to neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh through Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts has snapped following incessant rainfall.
The government has issued instructions to all the district headquarters to be on high alert in view of the rising waters.
