In Arunachal Pradesh, capital Itanagar and other regions went without local newspapers and local news channels for the second consecutive day on Saturday with media houses continuing an indefinite shutdown apprehending a confrontation between mediapersons and members of the Students’ Union Movement of Arunachal (SUMA) after the student body announced plans to stage a dharna in front of office of the Arunachal Times, an English daily.

The Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and the Arunachal Press Club (APC) refused to withdraw the shutdown, until their demands were fulfilled by the State government.
