The latest surveys says Chennai is the safest city for women and
generally for all because family system, traditional values are still
prevalent. People give importance to these things. The intellectuals,
the bollywood etc all just talking about severe punishments for the
eve teaser, rapists. But punishing or death penalty wont be able to
stop these things. You see the condition of america. Law is so strict.
No marriage compulsion for sex But still so many rapes. Because
morally people are dead. Definitely, death penalty is the only
punishment for these crime(but it is only for the purification of
convicted). What she said that people sudn't find their freedom in
nudity. Unless society is asexual, sexless one sud not try to do
this.Protect your male child also in due course your female child will
be protected. 20-30 years back rape was unknown to the indians because
of their inbuilt transparency in their dealings, belief in family
system, faith in marriages, chastity and celibacy.

@Ina- you have some connection but i am from rural area, and allow me to
tell you the social structure we have and we don't rape and keep rape
aside even no body in my village can ever think teasing a girl of
village.he will be thrown out of community and it will be a matter of
huge shame for his family,no body will make any kind of matrimonial
relation with that family.let me confess that girls are not given equal
when its come to education but i am sure that they are not raped.so stop
saying that rapes are on wide scale in Rural India.

I have some connections with rural India and most of my contemporaries do not. I know that rape is common in rural areas. In North India, rape of dalit women is routine. While it is true that tribal cultures are more free, it is also true that outsiders exploit them mercilessly and blame them for being loose. In a way, when BJP says there are no rapes in rural India, they are exposing their ignorance and lack of connection with ground reality. This is the reason the BJP can not hold on to power. They are too caught up with upper caste Hindu fantasies about the nature of India. When they were in power in UP, they banned the sale of meat in many areas, forgetting that most hindus are not vegetarians. They alienated everyone and look who came to power next. Women, lower caste people and rural India will eventually make BJP regret these comments.

She is talking about consensual sex and live-in relationships among
tribals in India. Mr. Mohan Bhagwat, are you listening? Vibha Rao has
not spoken about any solid action that has been done. What she has told
are excuses for the inactions.

There are street side job less people , who have never been acquainted of a culture where there is respect for women And there are leaders like her...I am not sure who should be given a more stringent punishment. Both seem be to be equal cause for the inhumane and dangerous environment thats lurking in every corner for women in India ...
