Arrested Maoist leader shifted to hospital

Arrested Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda, who had started hunger strike in jail, was shifted to MKCG medical college and hospital in the Berhampur of Odisha on Saturday.

He had started hunger strike from March 28. He was shifted to the hospital as his health condition had deteriorated. As per treating doctors his condition was stable and normal.

Sabyasachi had started the strike to protest against alleged attempt of the government and the police to delay trial of cases pending against him. According to his counsel, Dipak Patnaik, despite several attempts, information regarding the number of cases pending against Sabyasachi in different districts of the State is not being provided to him.

Sabyasachi also alleged that that the police were also delaying hearing of his cases in different courts taking different pleas including security problems.
