Apna Dal infighting out in the open

October 29, 2014 12:10 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:56 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

A power struggle within the Apna Dal has resulted in the party’s national general secretary and Mirzapur MP Anupriya Patel being removed from the post for “indiscipline” by her mother and party chief Krishna Patel.

Krishna Patel has alleged that her daughter and son-in-law Ashish Kumar Singh were hurting party’s interest and indulging in indiscipline, charges that have been rejected by Anupriya. Apna Dal, which as considerable presence in eastern Uttar Pradesh, fought Lok Sabha elections as a BJP ally and bagged two seats.

“The party workers had to bow before the whims and fancies of Anupriya Patel during the Lok Sabha elections as she had threatened to amalgamate Apna Dal with another political party if she was deprived of the chance to contest the elections,” she said.
