Another ex-IPS officer joins politics in Maharashtra

Former IPS officer P.K. Jain on Tuesday joined Ramdas Athawale-led Republican Party of India, which is one of the constituents of NDA combine in Maharashtra.

Mr. Jain was made vice-president of the party after joining.

“I wanted to do social service. While I was serving that time too I worked for the betterment of poor. I will try to expand the party,” Mr. Jain said after formally joining the party in Mumbai in the presence of Mr. Athawale.

He had resigned from IPS in February 2014.

“We have entrusted him with the responsibility of vice-president in the party. His joining the party will benefit us,” Mr. Athawale said.
