Another batch of 1,416 pilgrims leave for Amarnath from Jammu

Amid tight security, a batch of 1,416 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath yatra from here, police said.

As many as 796 men, 329 women, 19 children and 272 sadhus left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu around 0520 hours this morning in a cavalcade of 43 vehicles for the 13,500 feet high cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas.

With Monday’s batch, as many as 70,187 pilgrims have left Jammu in 26 batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.
