The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested Rejaul Karim, an accused in the blasts on October 2, 2014 in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district.

The NIA had described Karim as an active member of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh. A reward of Rs. 5 lakhs had been announced for any information leading to his arrest.

According to the investigation agency, the accused was arrested from Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district. “Rejual Karim stayed in Badshahi Road in Bardhaman. He was a very close associate of Kauser Bomaru Mizan and other accused in Bardhaman Blast case,” NIA said in a statement.

Days after the blast a huge cache of improvised explosive devices were seized from Karim’s house at Badshahi Road. “After the incident on October 2, the injured accused Abdul Hakim had called up Rejaul Karim for providing assistance and evacuation. His interrogation is likely to throw fresh leads and evidence in the investigation of this case.”
