Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday promised to take action against those involved in the June 29 killing of three youths in Anantnag town.
“I have received the preliminary enquiry report about the Anantnag incident in which precious human lives have been lost and action will be taken accordingly,” Chief Minister Omar Abdullah told a meeting of prominent residents in the district town, 55 km from here.
The meeting was the third in the series of interactions by the chief minister in the wake of recent violent protests in Kashmir Valley.
“I am here to listen to you and get first hand information about the events that caused law and order problem and resulted in loss of lives,” he said.
Three persons were killed and two others injured as CRPF personnel allegedly opened fire at a group of stone pelting protesters in Anantnag on June 29. Protesters went on a rampage after the incident and set ablaze three ambulances, three state road transport corporation trucks and a police post resulting in injuries to 30 others including ten policemen.
During the earlier meetings in Srinagar and Baramulla, Mr. Abdullah said he heard suggestions and feelings of the people.
“The government would consider these positively to smoothen the law and order machinery,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Syeed, Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo and Member of Parliament Mehboob Baig.
