The BJP general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Amit Shah, inaugurated party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s election office in Varanasi on Tuesday.

The Aam Aadmi Party, on the other hand, is yet to finalise a place for its candidate Arvind Kejriwal.

Stating that Mr. Modi would win the “one-sided contest” in Varanasi by a record margin, Mr. Shah said he was confident that the BJP would win the highest number of seats in Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Shah said party workers were “fired up” at Mr. Modi contesting from Varanasi.

Mr. Modi’s office is located on the ground floor of an apartment in Sigra, a business locality.

AAP on house-hunt

The AAP, which is also on a house-hunt for Mr. Kejriwal, has zeroed in on four locations, including one in Sigra.

Top AAP leaders are expected to shift base to Varanasi after the first round of elections on April 10 to campaign for Mr. Kejriwal. The AAP is currently undertaking a door-to-door campaign in all Assembly segments of the constituency and has formed booth-level committees.
