BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday held a meeting with Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States and pitched for coordination between the organisation and the State governments so that fruits of schemes such as Jan Dhan reached people at the grass-roots level.

During the meeting, they discussed the Centre’s decision to celebrate December 25, which is former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday, as good governance day. It had been decided that all public representatives of the BJP— from top to bottom — would spend one hour that day for PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The Chief Ministers were in the capital for a meeting convened by the Prime Minister to discuss a proposal to replace the Planning Commission with a new body.

BJP’s media in-charge Shrikant Sharma said the leaders also discussed the government’s ambitious Jan Dhan scheme and Mr. Shah asked the Chief Ministers to ensure its 100 per cent success in the party-ruled States.

Mr. Sharma said the meeting reviewed the progress of the membership drive.
