The Regional Campus Manipur of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University has been shut down in protest against non-fulfilment of the demands of the students for a long time. A statement issued by Manglien Gangte, president of the IGNTU students' union is saying that the higher authority should pay heed to the demands of the students.

The tribal students are saying that the departmental fellowship for the M. Phil scholars for the batches 2012-13 and 2013-14 should be immediately released. Besides, certificates should be issued to all successful students of the campus. The proposal for the external tours should be approved.

They are demanding a white paper about the slow speed construction of the sports complex and removal of the administrative bottleneck. The students feel that this bottleneck is primarily caused because of the lack of coordination among various sections including students. Though the director in charge of the campus has power to sanction Rs 15,000 it is alleged that he had sanctioned Rs 3.42 crore already. The students are demanding an all round development and want to know why there is an inordinate delay in the completion of the Regional Campus Manipur site at Makhan.
