Amarinder targets AAP

June 08, 2016 01:19 am | Updated September 16, 2016 11:23 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt. Amarinder Singh has said the fear of defeat in the Assembly elections have forced the ruling alliance of the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party to make “common cause” over the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to his son.

After accusing Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley of “using” the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department against him and his family, Capt. Amarinder said on Tuesday that while the SAD-BJP combine supporting the ED’s action was understandable, the AAP’s stand was surprising. The same AAP had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of political vendetta when the CBI raided the office of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajedra Kumar in last December, he said in a statement. “These are the double standards so characteristic of Mr. Kejriwal and his party.”
