With BJP breaking its ties with INLD on Monday, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that alliances entered into by opposition parties merely to gain political mileage will not work.
“These alliances are based on selfishness rather than to serve the masses,” the Chief Minister said commenting on the break-up between INLD-BJP, while addressing a public meeting after inaugurating Rajiv Gandhi Government College at Saha, 15 kilometres from here.
He said that the BJP-INLD alliance had already been shattered and claimed the alliance between Haryana Janhit Congress and BSP was on the verge of collapse.
“Now, only one strong alliance is left, which is between the Congress party and the people,” he said asserting that Congress would again form the new government in the state, with state assembly elections likely to be held in October.
Earlier, Hooda said that with a view to provide adequate irrigation facilities in district Ambala and adjoining areas, an ambitious Ambala Irrigation Project costing about Rs 300 crore has been formulated and this had been sent to Central Water Commission for its approval.
Besides this, Dadupur-Nalvi canal was also being constructed at a cost of Rs 268 crore and first phase of it had already been completed at a cost of Rs 132.27 crore, he said.
