Akhilesh clears judges’ appointment

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has cleared the appointment of principal judges in 23 family courts in various districts. The order follows the Allahabad High Court recommendations on the issue.Principal Secretary (Law) S.K. Pandey issued an order and asked to expedite appointment process so that these courts can be set up in districts at the earliest. The State government recently cleared setting up of 81 fast-track courts to hear crimes against women.

The districts where appointments in family courts would be made include Aligarh, Azamgarh, Balrampur, Banda, Barabanki, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Faizabad, Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Kannauj, Kanpur, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Moradabad, Pratapgarh, Shahjahanpur, Shravasti, Siddarth Nagar and Maharajganj. Judges will also be appointed in two family courts in Allahabad.
