Additional Collector held for taking bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau of the State Vigilance Department on Tuesday arrested North Goa Additional District Collector Sabaji Shetye for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2,5000 for granting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for an explosives licence.

An ACB spokesperson said the money was a part of ₹1.5 lakh demanded by Mr. Shetye for the NOC. “We laid a trap for him and he was caught red-handed. Shetye has been remanded in police custody.
