Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who was indicted in the Adarsh Commission of Inquiry report, has written to the State government claiming that the Commission did not give him a hearing. He said this was “against the principle of natural justice.”
Mr. Chavan’s letter was sent to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Chief Secretary J.S. Sahariya. Mr. Chavan said in the letter that “a great injustice has been done to me. Before indicting me, the Commission did not hear my version.”
The Adarsh Commission of Inquiry, whose report was made public on December 20, had indicted Mr. Chavan for extending political patronage to the building project. It had also accused him of quid pro quo since he had given various clearances to the building, and later three of his relatives got flats in it.
