AAP worker held on rape charge

Thane police on Monday arrested an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker for allegedly raping his female colleague around four months ago.

According to the complaint filed by the 35 year old victim, Dharmendra Singh (32) raped her at a party held at his Navghar residence in Mira Road, on the outskirts of Mumbai. When the victim and the accused where alone in a room, the accused allegedly threatened that he would make the SMS sent by her to him public and forced himself upon her. The accused and the victim had shared many messages in the past.

Last week the woman lodged a complaint, following which the police arrested the accused on Monday. He has been remanded to police custody till July 26.
