AAP to play watchdog in Haryana elections

September 19, 2014 02:11 am | Updated 02:11 am IST - Chandigarh:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is not contesting Assembly elections in Haryana, has decided to make its presence felt in the electoral arena through a campaign called ‘Aap ki Awaaz’ which seeks to create awareness about candidates, raise relevant issues and be a watchdog of the electoral process.

Doing their bit

This was decided at a State-level meeting held here on Thursday, chaired by senior leader Yogendra Yadav. Listing three major components of the campaign — Chetna, Chot and Chowkidaari — Mr. Yadav said even though his party was not contesting elections, it was doing its bit to cleanse politics through the campaign, which will activate its volunteers and supporters across the State.

The party will distribute five lakh pamphlets, send SMSes, put up posters and banners across the State and reach out to the people through public meetings and door to door calls, aimed at maintaining the sanctity and purpose of elections.
