AAP allotting rooms to its workers in guest house of medical college: BJP

July 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - New Delhi:

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Saturday claimed that rooms in the guest house of the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) were being allotted to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers for “long periods” instead of those eligible for it.

“Nikunj Aggarwal, the son-in-law of the Chief Minister’s sister-in-law, who has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Health Minister Satyendar Jain is continuously misusing his office. On his orders, the AAP workers are being allowed to stay in the faculty guest house for months,” Mr. Gupta claimed at a press conference.

The BJP leader demanded that the government order a high-level probe into the matter.

Producing a number of documents in support of the alleged misuse, the LoP said that as per the rules, the guest house of the MAMC was allotted on the recommendation of the Health Minister for a maximum period of three days to examiners, specialists and out-of-State guest speakers.

‘Misuse of office’

The BJP leader said that while approval of the Dean of Faculty of the guest house was mandatory for bookings, Mr. Aggarwal — vide a letter dated 13.06.2016 — had written to the Dean of MAMC, Dr. Deepak K Tempe, informing that one Rashmi Shrivastav, who is attached to the Health Minister, be given a room in the guest house for one month.

According to the letter, Mr. Gupta said, the room was to be allotted to Ms. Shrivastav her for one month with effect from 14.06.2016.

The BJP leader added that Mr. Aggarwal, vide another letter dated 24.05.2016, had written to the Dean of MAMC informing that one Sunil Chandekar, who is attached to the Health Minister, be given Room No. 102 for 15 days from 27.05.2016.

The LoP further said that Mr. Aggarwal had orally ordered Dr. Tempe to provide a room for 15 days to one Nilesh. Accordingly on 26.05.2016, the Dean gave written instructions to the doctor in-charge to make the arrangements, said Mr. Gupta.

Allegations

“All these persons are not eligible to stay in the guest house of the MAMC. In fact, they are AAP workers staying there on the behest of Satyender Jain and his OSD Nikunj Aggarwal. It was made a compulsion for the Dean of the College to make arrangements for their stay in the guest house of the medical college,” Mr. Gupta said.
