A 46-year-old executive of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) died at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here on Friday after he fell from the roof of the new terminal that is under construction.

The terminal is likely to be inaugurated in January.

Pravin Kandelwal, joint general manager (information technology), slipped and fell down when he went to the roof to inspect the work around 10 a.m. He was rushed to a private health facility where the doctors declared him brought dead. According to the police, there is so far no evidence to suggest any foul play in the incident.

The official was transferred to Kolkata from New Delhi about two years ago.

In September 2011, K.K. Gupta, regional general manager of the airport’s Air Traffic Control, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the ninth floor of the ATC building.
