Yoga teacher arrested for rape of U.S. national

PANAJI: A 37-year-old yoga teacher, Pratick Agarwal, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 32-year-old U.S. national from California, on the pretext of teaching her a tantrik massage.

North Goa Superintendent of Police Karthik Kashyap told The Hindu that the accused has been remanded to eight days in police custody.

The officer added that Agarwal, a native of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. runs a yoga institute named ‘School of holistic yoga and ayurveda’ in Pernem, North Goa.

Mr. Kashyap said that the victim has also alleged in her complaint that the accused also raped her Canadian friend, who was in Goa on a vacation.

Agarwal has been booked earlier in 2015 for alleged rape a foreign national.
