Timer bomb found in Rajkot; defused successfully

A ‘live’ timer bomb concealed in a box was on Tuesday found in Khodiyarpara area of the city following which it was successfully defused, police said.

“We received a call that a suspicious object was lying on the roadside in Khodiyarpara area on 150-feet ring road.

Upon searching the box, we found two gelatin sticks attached with a motorcycle battery and a clock (timer)” K N Parmar, police sub inspector with Rajkot Bomb Disposal Squad, said.

“The bomb squad has successfully defused the bomb” he added.

“If the bomb went off, it would have caused severe damage to property and people living in 100 meter diameter area” the official said.

A search has been initiated to nab the person, who had planted the bomb, the official added.
