Nitish Kumar declares assets, son richer than him

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and members of his cabinet declared their assets on the first day of the year.

The details of their movable and immovable assets, filed by Nitish Kumar showed that he is poorer than his son Nishant.

Mr. Kumar has assets, including cash, bank deposits, a Ford car, cows and calves, an exercise bicycle, a flat in Delhi worth of Rs 56 lakh whereas his son Nishant’s total assets is worth Rs 2.36 crore.

Mr Kumar’s deputy in the cabinet and state’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, however, has no vehicle but a number of land plots.

The younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has major land plots in Danapur and Phulwari Sharif areas, near Patna. He also has a land plot in Gardanibagh area of the state capital.

But, his elder brother and Bihar’s health minister Tej Pratap Yadav has a motorcycle worth Rs 15 lakh, a car worth Rs 29 lakh and bank deposits of Rs 3 lakh. He also has land plots in Danapur and Phulwari Sharif areas.

State Water Resources Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh has one pistol and a rifle. He has a car worth of Rs 7.30 lakh and bank deposit of over 1 crore. He also has a shop in a shopping complex in the State capital.

Similarly, Agricultural Minister Ram Vichar Rai has a pistol, a rifle and a gun in his name. He has bank deposit of Rs 24 lakh.

Finance minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui too has a revolver, a rifle, a gun and bank deposit of Rs 26. 22 lakh. He has an SUV and a Maruti car. Industries, Science and Technology Minister Jai Kumar Singh too has revolver and rifle.

Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar has gold worth of Rs 2 lakh whereas his wife has jewellery worth of Rs 5.35 lakh.

Art and Culture Minister Shiv Chandra Ram has 6.10 kg silver, 100 gm gold whereas his wife has 455 gm gold and 2.25 kg silver. The Minister has also land plots and houses in Patna and Vaishali districts.

Significantly, most of the Ministers are poorer than their wives in terms of bank deposits as cash and jewellery.

Earlier in 2010, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made it mandatory for himself and his Ministers to declare their assets annually.
