The overall percentage of voting in both the phases of Assam assembly poll was 76.03 per cent with the just-concluded second phase of polls recording 78.6 percent turnout.

With 78.6 percent of voters exercising franchise in the second phase of assembly polls held yesterday and 73.04 percent voter turnout recorded in the first phase, the overall percentage of both the phases was 76.03, State chief electoral officer Hemanta Narzary told reporters here today.

The State election commission has recommended repoll in six polling stations in the second phase where voting process had to be stopped.

Among the polling stations where repoll has been recommended are four from Rangiya assembly constituency, one each in Bhabanipur and Udalguri seats, he said.

Polling had to be stopped in the polling stations as the presiding officers could not carry out the process due to clash among rival parties and intimidation by party supporters, he said.
