Ten people, including seven students and a teacher, were killed and four others injured when a jeep carrying them collided with a mini-truck near here on Monday, police said.

The incident took place on a road between Kairu and Chandawas village, about 40 km from here, when the jeep carrying 14 people collided with the mini-truck, they said.

While nine people — six students, the teacher, conductor and the bus driver — died on the spot, one student died during treatment at the Rohtak Medical College.

One of the injured is undergoing treatment in Bhiwani civil hospital, while three others have been admitted to the medical college.

The jeep was carrying 11 students from Kairu-based Adarsh Public School and Dilsukh Public School. The teacher belonged to Adarsh Public School.

Earlier, the police had said that a Bhiwani DPS school bus had collided with the mini-truck.

The police has registered a case against the mini-truck driver.
