A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday convicted 61 people in the 1996 multi-crore fodder scam related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 14.52 crore from the Jamshedpur Treasury of the then undivided State of Bihar .

The particular case had 73 accused, of whom 12 persons were acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence. Seven accused had died during the course of trial. CBI Judge Pravas Kumar Singh sentenced 20 accused to one or three years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped fine of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 5 lakh.
