Six persons were killed and 10 others were injured as a vehicle fell into a gorge near Chakrata’s Punah village area on Sunday.

The vehicle was going from Dehradun district’s Kaha-Naera village to Vikas Nagar when it fell into a 300-metre deep gorge at Punah – a kilometre from Kaha-Naera – due to the carelessness of the driver, Vikas Nagar police station Circle Officer Swapn Kishore Singh said.

“Six persons, including the driver, died on the spot, and the injured were rushed to hospitals in Dehradun and Vikas Nagar,” Mr. Singh said.

“The accident took place at around 9 am and the police reached the spot within 45 minutes and rescued the injured persons with the help of the villagers,” Mr. Singh said.
