As many as 58 government employees were placed under suspension after they were found absent from duty in Budgam district of central Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmed inspected various departments including Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Education, and Employment Department on Saturday and found 58 employees absent, an official spokesman said.

He said Deputy Commissioner directed action under the rules of law against the absentees.
