5,450 people killed in 5 years in bus accidents: Himachal Tansport Minister

August 01, 2014 02:17 pm | Updated 02:17 pm IST - SHIMLA:

Himachal Transport Minister G.S. Bali on Thursday disclosed that 5,450 people were killed in Himachal in various road accidents in past five years in the State. He said the figure is much less than the other hill States in the country.

Addressing media persons after the bus accident a couple of days back, the Minister while evading the responsibility said no individual can be called responsible for these accidents and it is the poor condition of roads which is causing mishaps in the State. The Minister brushed aside the allegations and demand of resignation by the Opposition for the frequent bus accidents occurring in the State these days. Mr. Bali said that State Chief Minister is satisfied by his works and has never told to resign as speculated in a section of media on Wednesday.
