44.49 LMT paddy arrives in Haryana

Over 44.49 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the mandis of Haryana till Wednesday as against the total arrival of 43.03 lakh metric tonnes during last year.

The State has so far contributed over 1.91 lakh metric tonnes of rice to the Central pool, an official spokesman said here on Thursday.

He said paddy which arrived in the mandis of the State had been purchased either by the government agencies or by the millers or dealers.

The government agencies had purchased over 26.29 lakh metric tonnes and millers and dealers over 18.19 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, he added.

He said that over 10.38 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been purchased by Hafed, whereas Food and Supplies Department had purchased over 9.45 lakh metric tonnes, Agro Industries over 2.77 lakh metric tonnes, Confed over 2.35 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 89,689 metric tonnes and Food Corporation of India 42,761 metric tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading in paddy arrival, where over 9.34 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis, followed by Karnal, where over 7.44 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis.
