The Rajasthan government and the Vedanta Foundation and a group company, Hindustan Zinc, signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to improve 3,056 anganwadi centres in five districts for five years under the Integrated Child Development Services.

More than 90,000 underprivileged children in the 3-6 age group in Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Ajmer are expected to benefit from the agreement.

As many as 1,000 of these centres will be converted into model anganwadis at the rate of 200 a year through the adoption programme.

They centres will be renovated and provided child-friendly toilets, water filters and play materials. They will get new utensils and smokeless stoves in the kitchen.
